Reality TV adverts - Initial ideas

For my Reality TV advert I have chosen a few possible ideas:

  • A reality TV show set in Tupton Hall School, interviewing students and filming everyday school life.
  • Survival show - People in the wild trying to survive against the elements.
  • Some sort of competition show where the general public are the stars of the show.

Smart VS Stupid -

My idea for this Reality TV show would to try and make it as comedic as possible while also being able to showcase some of the serious problems facing schools and the people who work/attend them on a day to day basis. The aim would be to make it interesting to a younger age range through comedy (16 and under) while also focusing on real issues that people over that age group will care about.

I would focus heavily on 2 social groups. One student, who is finding school work easy and enjoyable, and another who struggles with their work and finds school impossible. It will be interesting for an audience to see how these students became this way and if they will be able to help each other and get along.

The show would be on around 5-6pm so that it was available to both a younger and older audience, as the younger audience can sympathise with the students and relate to them, whereas an older audience can see what schools are like and root for the head to get things organised. It would also link to cultivation theory, as the media want people to see teenagers as disruptive and disrespectful so showcasing this would help to reinforce the views they already have.
